Overcoming Failure in ACCA Exams

7 Reasons for Failure in ACCA Exams

The passing rate for ACCA exams is 40% is more than other financial certifications like CA. However, it is considered common to fail in a few subjects. However, students can pass the exam on the first attempt if they prepare with the right strategy and mindset.

AAA P7 (Advanced Audit and Assurance) is considered the toughest exam but if students follow the right strategies like students of Sir Owais Mirchawala follow then they will pass the exam with good marks.

Seven tips to follow to pass the exam in 1st attempt are following,

1- Students do not study in the right way:

If students do not know the right strategies to pass a particular course in ACCA then they may keep failing. The most common query is to consider On-site classes in any institution and study online from recorded lectures.

Some students prefer to work full-time while studying the ACCA Course therefore students must choose effective learning environments and coaching.

Another common reason we noticed is that student select a coaching center that is far from their home and they need to travel a long time. Students should work smartly and select institutions that have a good learning environment. Students can study 300 hours or 600 hours, but if they do not study efficiently then they will keep failing.

2- Students did not know the issues:

Some students prefer only books. If these student marks below 35 and they keep failing then knowledge would be their issue. The reason is that students are unable to study regularly or waste time creating notes instead of learning.

The students of Mirchawala’s Hub of Accountancy consume 150 hours according to the strategies instructed by their teachers. In this way, students can cover all the topics and learn while with making notes.

In case of exemption, students do not look over the concept of that paper, which results in failures of the other papers therefore it is crucial to clear the concepts of the exemption papers.

3- Students did not implement their knowledge:

To pass an ACCA exam, knowledge is not enough. The main focus is  “Applied Knowledge”. Assume you are working in a Multinational Organization, and your boss orders you to provide the best solution for the business. If students try to cover everytopic on the ledger, they may lose his attention.

That is what ACCA exams have to focus on. It teaches you to be a good accountant by enabling students to give precise and correct information according to the situation.

In addition, treat the examiner like your boss. Avoid answering everything you know about the topics. Rather than answer the question precisely and relevant,

4- Students are not able to answer all the questions:

Most students regret this issue, for not being able to answer the questions. This may be due to wasting time by not answering precisely and writing everything about the topics and students run out of time for other questions.

To clarify, let’s assume a question has 5 marks and the student answers 8 points of that question. They wrote 3 points extra and did not get marks for that 3 points, student can consume that time on other questions.

Therefore, students should not write longer in points. Each point consists of two lines and student should not spend long on it.

To work out exactly how long you should spend, divide the writing time in the exam (minus reading and planning time) by the number of marks the paper is worth. You’ll usually have a minute or so per mark.

5- Students take stress during the exams:

Students should not feel stressed on exam day or before the exam. Unfortunately, some students are well prepared but due to stress, they are not able to perform in exams according to their potential which causes failure.

However, some students face this stress well, which results in passing the exam. If you are a student who is stressed on exam day, you should implement these tips,

  • Get used to exam conditions
  • Be prepared
  • Be punctual at the exam center

6- Students do not give proper time to studies

As you know ACCA qualification offers flexibility to students and many students study for ACCA while pursuing a job therefore sometimes students do not give adequate time to their studies thus failing ACCA exams.

The students who are attempting ACCA exams should give proper time to their study and practice. The students should take leave from their office for some days to properly study for the exam to pass with good marks.

7- Lack of proper practice

Sometimes students do not focus properly on practicing before their exams. Sometimes they focus on classes and tuition and do not focus on exam kits which results in their failure of the exams.

If students want to pass their exams with good marks, it is recommended to focus on classes as well as a proper exam kit. The more you practice for your exam, the more there is a chance that you will pass with good marks.

There is more chance of students failing professional-level papers like ATX P6 and ACCA P7 due to lack of proper practice. Students need to search online on the Internet to practice themselves. There is a complete playlist on YouTube where the ATX Past paper discussion was conducted by Sir Owais. In the same way, students can find past papers questions which help them to understand paper format and questions. Therefore proper practice using exam kits, relevant study materials, and with the help of classes from a proper ACCA institute is highly recommended for passing these papers along with other ACCA papers as well.

So these are some common reasons why students are failing ACCA exams. If they focus properly on practice and give appropriate time to their studies, there is a high chance they will pass all their exams and qualify for ACCA.
